New Age Health
Many people these days are going the way of vegetarianism. This mainly consists of eating only fruits and vegetables. Vegetarians can get all the nutrients they need from these foods but are greatly boosted by eating organic produce.
Smoking
It is well know that smoking can be detrimental to your health but did you know that the secondhand smoke you breathe out is contributing to global warming too?
Start cutting down on the number of cigarettes you smoke per day. You will begin to feel healthier and you may find yourself breathing easier.
Eating Organic
It takes just 10 families eating organic produce to support a small organic farm! If we all choose organic over modified food this would mean a higher production for organic farmers. This higher production means more natural plants which combat the effects of global warming.
Many modified, produce farmers use vast amounts of herbicides and pesticides. These can seep into the produce and be detrimental to your health over time. These pesticides are then absorbed into the ground and contaminate future produce which then compounds the problem.
By eating organic food you will be healthier and you will help in increasing agricultural diversity.
Get Physical
Physical exercise is a vitally important part of being healthy. All the nutrients gained from eating healthy food, still needs to be burned off to maintain a healthy and fit body. Try and work 30 minutes of exercise into your daily routine. Remember that walking or cycling to nearby places can greatly reduce your carbon footprint and is a great way to get your blood pumping!
Low ‘Carbon’ Diets
There is a way of modifying your diet to reduce the impact you have on the environment so that your eating habits produce a lower carbon footprint. Much of this will come not from what you eat but how and where you purchase!
Purchase local rather than imported goods. Doing this will mean that there will be less carbon dioxide emitted on your part through the delivery of imported goods via cars, planes or other such modes. Similarly, purchase seasonal fruit and vegetables. Remember that buying produce that is out of season means that it will either be modified or imported.
One last tip – try to buy in bulk when you can and save on your trips to the shops!
